The Risk and Reliability Management section of the Engineering Division had conducted several day-long courses on topics covering concepts of process safety management. The courses were very well attended and the feedback was very positive and encouraging. Some of the courses had a quiz in afternoon sessions and winners were awarded token gifts and were congratulated by General Manager Engineering, Mohamed Ghuloom.
Ghuloom delivered a very thought-provoking message on the significance of PSM Training to the winners of the 2011 3rd Quarter PSM Training Quizzes in a ceremony held in his office. In congratulating the PSM Quiz winners of 2011 3rd Quarter, he stated that he was delighted to meet people who had paid close attention to what was being taught in the PSM courses and as a result were able to score higher than others to become the winners.
He requested them to put in practice what they had learnt from the course – which would make them even bigger winners in that they would contribute directly to enhancing our PSM efforts. The token award given to the winners was just that – i.e. merely a token. The real award was the PSM knowledge that they had picked up, and real winning was to apply the PSM principles in practice in Bapco. There are several reliability and risk management related courses that are offered from time to time. Most of these are day-long courses, held at Bapco Club, mostly conducted by Ram K Goyal, Advisor Risk Management, where morning sessions are structured in the form of a seminar/classroom presentation, and the afternoons are devoted to hands-on practice and quizzes.
