The Minister for Works Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf said that the budget allocation for the sewerage project was already completed. The project was expected to cost BD2.2 million, said the minister.
The contractor was mobilising infrastructure to start the work and the construction of the network was expected in a couple of months, he said. The minister said that the project would take about two years to complete and that would result in 99 per cent of Busaiteen get connected to the main sewerage network. The remaining would take a while since there was a property and some sentimental issues of the area that needed to be addressed, he said.
The village project, he said, awaited the preparation of bidding. The BD600,000 project was already allotted the budget, said the minister. He added that the relentless chasing up by the council member and the Member of Parliament, Shaikh Adel Abdulrahman Al Mauwda had resulted in speeding up the projects.
Al Muttawa said he appreciated the cooperation of the works minister. He added that no project of Muharraq would be stalled if the member concerned was monitoring the progress and even in the future, he said, any council member who felt that projects were stalled could meet with the prime minister and be assured that the bottlenecks would be removed.
