In line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the order issued by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa directed at a meeting he chaired at Gudaibiya Palace to finalise the dismissal cases of workers from the public and private sectors in connection with the recent regrettable incidents in Bahrain.
He directed to hold a meeting under the chairmanship of the Labour Minister and Head of the Committee in charge of looking into the cases to ensure companies’ full cooperation in meeting the recommendations of the committee to reinstate dismissed workers, whose cases have been studied, within two weeks.
Shaikh Mohammed also directed the Civil Service Bureau and concerned government authorities to finish holding disciplinary councils in November and review previously-made decisions stressing that the supreme national interest requires alleviating the situation for those workers and urging them not to repeat the offences.
Shaikh Mohammed revealed that 156 employees, whose offences do not amount to dismissal, have been reinstated while 174 employees were dismissed following decisions by the disciplinary councils. A total of 1623 employees will be dealt with by the disciplinary councils, he explained.
On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa highlighted the outcome of his meeting with major companies last Wednesday (October 19, 2011) during which he informed them about the directives of HM the King and HRH the Prime Minister to reinstate workers recommended by the afore-mentioned committee and take the necessary legal measures concerning those who could not be reinstated for security reasons.
The Labour Minister reviewed during the meeting the results achieved by the committee pointing out that a total of 2462 cases of dismissed workers have been looked into out of which 1136 workers have either been reinstated or had their cases settled by consensus with their companies or given other jobs.
Meanwhile, the committee has decided that 806 workers, whose dismissal was found out to be illegal, be reinstated. The Labour Minister was tasked to follow up on the issue with concerned companies.
