Bahrain’s trade and industrial delegation, led by the Economic Development Board (EDB) with co-operation of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), concluded on Saturday.
The delegation, which also included key businessmen and representatives from the private sector, has paid a visit to Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus (SIC), a key British science and innovation campus which is internationally-recognised for its unique platform in supporting innovation and collaboration between hi-tech businesses, universities and research organisations, in order to be informed on one of Britain’s most pioneering experiences in the fields of science, creativity, technological and high-tech industries.
Daresbury SIC Deputy Chief Executive Colin Whitehouse welcomed the delegation and stressed the importance reciprocal visits between SIC and other local and international research centres, asserting that SIC has achieved landmark strides thanks to the fruitful cooperation between the public and the private sectors in the UK, in coordination with key educational establishments.
The CEO of EDB Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa said that supporting creativity and business entrepreneurship is the best way to achieve development and sustainable economy, highlighting Bahrain’s strides in this regard. He also expressed admiration of UK’s advanced technological industries, research centres and scientific laboratories, praising Daresbury SIC’s world reputation. The visit also included a series of one-to-one meetings between the industrialists and businessmen from the campus and its extended network, sharing best practices about the campus model and identifying areas of potential bilateral collaboration and investment. The delegation also toured the centre and was informed on its facilities and services.
The delegation included Dr. Issam Fakhro, Khalid Al Amine, Ibrahim Zainal, Khalid Al Zayani, Samir Nass, Hazim Janahi, Jawad Al Hawaj, Dr. Tawfik Al Moayyad, Dr. Samer Al Jishi, Anwar Abdulrahman, Eva Aawood and Ibrahim Al Lajnawi. It is to be noted that the road show began on October 10th and concluded yesterday, October 14th.
