His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa received at Al-Safriya Palace Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, who introduced Arab Tourism Organisation chairman Dr. Bandar bin Fahd Al-Fuhaid, Islamic Development Fund chairman Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Ali and ATO secretary-general Al-Mokhtar Ould Mohammed Al-Amin, marking the establishment of the Gulf Unemployment and Poverty Fund.
The scheme follows an initiative of the Arab Tourism Organisation in line with the Arab Summit organisation. “This lofty initiative shows the interest of the Arab Tourism Organisation to contribute to all that ensure poor and needy people humanitarian services and reflects the lofty principles of Islam which advocates social solidarity”, he said, wishing the scheme success. He also stressed Bahrain’s cooperation with the Arab Tourism Organisation to achieve the lofty and humanitarian goals. Dr. Bandar briefed HM King Hamad on the goals and the fund and its financing mechanisms through the Islamic Development Fund. He also outlined the activities and programmes of the Arab Tourism Organisation.
