His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa received at Al-Safriya Palace Shura Council President Ali-bin Saleh Al-Saleh and Parliament Chairman Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani, who submitted the annual report of the first session of the third legislative term.
HM the King hailed the crucial the Shura Council and Parliament for their crucial role in promoting the march of democracy and keenness to ensure Bahrain’s progress and prosperity. He described democracy in Bahrain as a strategic choice, endorsed through consensus between people and the leadership.
He highlighted the success of the parliament bye-elections, stressing the positive participation which reflects Bahraini citizens’ political awareness. He also hailed women’s success in securing more seats in the forty-seat parliament, thus ensuring a stronger presence in the National Assembly.
Women’s pivotal role in Bahraini society and their capacity to cope with development strides and stand side by side with man was also lauded. HM the King urged the National Assembly to cement national unity, promote amity and cooperation between all people and bolster Bahrain’s progress and prosperity.
He stressed the crucial role of the legislative institutions in building the nation and promoting decision-making.
