A batch of 400 Interior Ministry officers, non-commissioned officers and civil employees have been trained on commitment to human rights standards over the last two years (2009-2010) cooperation with John Hopkins University.
A series lectures and workshop promoting human rights standards have been lined up for Royal Police Academy students on a regular basis.
The ministry’s personnel have also been instructed to respect and heed prisoners’ rights. Security personnel failing to abide by human rights standards are held accountable.
Human rights have also been included among subjects being taught at the Royal Police Academy.
The move is part of Government’s efforts to implement the National Dialogue recommendations.
