Mohamed Al Qaed, the Chief Executive Officer of the eGovernment Authority Bahrain won the prestigious International ID People Awards 2011 during the 10th Annual ID World Conference which was recently organized by the ID World International Congress in Milan city, Italy.
The ID People Awards are presented every year in recognition of the profound contribution made by thought leaders, innovators and pioneering adopters who distinguished themselves by their achievements. The ID World International Congress presents the award in five categories for competition between leaders from different countries following the nomination and voting by the organizing committee of the ID Community. Nominees are short-listed to five candidates for each category and the winner of each category is elected by voting of the jury.
Mohammad Ali Al Qaed received the ID People Awards following the nomination and voting by the ID Community and the jury composed of specialist professionals from USA, Germany, France and Switzerland. The jury honoured Al Qaed for helping create and establish the eGovernment Authority (eGA) in the Kingdom of Bahrain as an internationally renowned organization. The eGA has been acknowledged for its great success and progress and its achievement of the 1st place in the GCC, 3rd in Asia and 13th worldwide as per the United Nations Report. The jury agreed that this merit and such worldwide recognition is attributed to Mohamed Al Qaed’s determination , commitment and great leadership towards building and reinforcing the work by placing fingerprints on the ID community worldwide.
Mohammad Al Qaed is the only winner of this year’s ID People Awards in the Arab and GCC region.
Kamal bin Ahmed Mohamed, Minister of Cabinet Affairs congratulated Mohammad Al Qaed for winning this prestigious global award and achievement, stating that the award is another global acknowledgment evidencing the success of Bahrain eGovernment program under the leadership of HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communications Technology (SCICT).
The Minister expressed his sincere appreciation to the Chief Executive Officer of the eGovernment Authority for the efforts and contribution he has made with his team at the eGovernment Authority that drove the eGovernment program to reach maturity and attain great advancement worldwide.
Mohamed Al Qaed, the Chief Executive of the eGovernment Authority expressed his honor in winning the ID People Awards and dedicated this profound attainment to the wise leadership, citizens of Bahrain and all employees of the eGovernment Authority, confirming that this triumph is not personal but a merit to Bahrain’s eGovernment program for the leading and innovative role in serving the nation and meeting their requirements.
“The eGovernment Authority has been working in the past years on implementing the eGovernment strategy 2007 -2010 under the guidance and wise leadership of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communications Technology (SCICT) headed by HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, which made it to success to receive worldwide recognition,” he added.
He pointed out that the eGovernment Authority is getting ready to launch its new eGovernment strategy for 2011-2016 which will be another specific leap for the Kingdom to position itself amongst the most advanced countries in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).
