The Minister of Human Rights and Social Development and Acting Minister of Health Dr Fatima Al Balushi held a meeting with EU Ambassador in Saud Arabia on the sidelines of her attending the ceremony related to presenting the report of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI).
The minister reviewed with the ambassador means of further bolstering ties and cooperation with the EU related to friendly relations.
She also highlighted the positive stance taken up by the EU towards the BICI report affirming that the report was a transformational point in the comprehensive reform programme directed by His Majesty.
Dr Al Balushi also affirmed that the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain was committed towards transparency in its management of its internal affairs.
She emphasized that the government was keen on addressing the recommendations that were included in the report to achieve His Majesty’s desire and the directives of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister.
She said that the report made all ambiguities clear and misleading information was corrected that had its impact in the past few months.
Dr Al Balushi said that she had appointed Saeed Al Fahini the undersecretary for human rights to contact that EU and place a work mechanism between it and the ministry.
The EU ambassador to Saudi Arabia welcomed the briefing presented by the minister on the procedures undertaken by Bahrain’s government in its addressing the BICI report.
He said that the report was considered an important document and a road-map towards the democratic progress in the country.
