International Labour Organization (ILO) board Chairman Greg Vines praised the Bahraini experience in regulating the labour market while adhering to international criteria, lauding the kingdom’s landmark achievements in the fields of employment, training and unemployment insurance.
This came at a meeting on Tuesday between Labour Minister Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan and ILO Chairman at the International Labour Office in Geneva.
Present at the meeting were Bahrain Permanent Representative to Geneva-based UN office Dr. Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri and members of the Bahraini delegation.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Labour Minister’s participation in the ILO Board of Directors’ 312th session held from November 3 to 18.
The Labour Minister briefed Vines on the Kingdom’s efforts to tackle the pitfalls of the recent regrettable incidents in Bahrain as well as the positive steps taken to implement the international labour criteria, support trade unionism and keep unemployment rates low.
The Labour Minister held key meetings with top ILO officials and Heads of the participating delegations.
