The National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), in cooperation with the eGovernment Authority (eGA), launched the Gasoline Octane Inquiry eService being the first eService for NOGA to be launched through the eGovernment portal (www.bahrain.bh).
Gasoline Octane Inquiry service allows citizens, residents and visitors in the Kingdom of Bahrain to view information about the Gasoline Octane characteristics and be able to use the correct vehicle fuel – regular or premium depending on the car model and manufacturer to be able to identify if people are using the correct fuel type (Jayyid) or (Mumtaz) in relation to the octane number and the difference between premium and regular gasoline sold at gas stations in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
“Through this service that was recently launched on www.bahrain.bh, we call upon all consumers to use the type of fuel as recommended by the manufacturer in order to reduce consumption burdens of the consumer using higher-octane fuel”. He pointed out that the 95 Octane Mumtaz costs 100 fils per liter and the 91 Octane Jayyid costs only 80 fils/liter,” Engineer Jassim Isa Al Shirawi, General Manager National Oil and Gas Affairs at NOGA, said.
“Around 74% of the cars in the Kingdom are Japanese cars and 63% of them are designed to run on regular fuel which contains 90-91 octane; consumers can save BD 120 annually by opting for regular type and the engine still runs efficiently with full power,” he added.
“Statistics released by Bapco showed that the consumption of the premium fuel is continuously and steadily growing compared to the regular fuel which puts additional burden on the refining capacity of Bahrain’s refinery,” he added.
