Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) has revealed that enough evidence has been found showing how South Asian workers were targeted by Bahrain protestors during the incidents which gripped the kingdom last February and March.
The report stated that the Pakistanis, in particular, bore the brunt of these attacks as many of them were part of BDF and police personnel.
Many residential areas dwelt by the expatriate community in Bahrain were also attacked on many occasions creating a climate of fear and forcing many people to stay indoors, the report pointed out.
Disrupting people’s ordinary life and preventing them from reaching their work places has resulted in severe economic losses.
Also, many south Asian workers, including mainly Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and Indians, were forced to flee the country fearing for their life.
BICI has recommended designing educational curricula to be taught at schools and universities to promote tolerance, co-existence and respect of the law.
