A seminar is scheduled to be held in Manama on November 15, 2011 under the theme “Impact of climate change on the energy sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain” under the auspices of Minister of Energy Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza.
Organized by the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) in collaboration with Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), the General Organization for Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife, UNDP and the UN program for the Environment, the Forum will be a right platform to discuss the challenges related to climate change.
Dr Mirza in a statement said a group of experts would discuss issues of the environment, climatic change and its likely impact and remarked that the forum comes in compliance with the directives of the wise leadership regarding this vital sector.
The Minister said that the forum comes before the 17th Conference of the parties in the Kyoto-Framework Agreement on Climate Change to be held on 28 November 2011 in Durban, South Africa.
“The National Oil and Gas Authority seeks to enable the energy sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain so as to keep up with the latest developments and the outcomes of this international yearly summit which is of paramount importance for climate change,” the Minister said.
The Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation includes the relevant ministries and authorities are represented in the joint national committee for climate change.
