The National Safety Council saluted a group of up-and-coming professionals making a difference in safety. NSC created the “Rising Stars of Safety” program to engage the safety leaders of tomorrow, as their insights and experience will be crucial to advancing the future of safety.
The 2011 NSC Rising Stars represent 40 individuals younger than 40 who have demonstrated outstanding safety leadership. This year, almost 150 nominees went through a rigorous review process that included blind scoring, without names or affiliations, against four main criteria: Leadership attributes, Examples of safety initiatives producing measurable outcomes, Engagement of peers in transforming safety culture both on and off the job, Strong personal beliefs in the value of safety to business operations. This year’s class of NSC Rising Stars comes from a variety of industries representing four different countries. They work at organizations varying in size from 60 employees to 430,000. We are proud to recognize these Rising Stars at our 2011 NSC Congress & Expo in Philadelphia.
Samah Al-Hamad Operational Excellence Management System Leader in Bahrain Petroleum Company BAPCO was selected among 150 nominees as she has delivered very impressive results and has earned a place as one of the NSC “40 Under 40,” the Rising Stars of Safety class of 2011 and was awarded by the National Safety Council in Philadelphia. The recognition was attended by GM Refining Ebrahim Talib and Manager FH&S Ahmed Khalil. Samah was actively involved in the initiation of the Ergonomic Committee. Her role as chairperson was clearly reflected in the increased awareness level in the organization to ergonomics.
She also led a large ergonomics campaign in 2009 that targeted the whole organization, and its success was measured through the increased level in employees conducting ergonomic self-assessments.
