An Indian father denied on Saturday for attempted murder charges by throwing his own son from the first floor of the Bahrain City Centre on Thursday evening. The man also jumped from the first floor injuring himself in an attempt saving his son who sustained head injuries and remained in a critical condition in the hospital.
Capital Governorate Chief Prosecutor Fahad Al Buainain said that the Public Prosecution was informed by the Capital Police Directorate that an Asian father threw his ten-year-old son from the first floor of “City Centre” shopping mall and then jumped himself, resulting in them both suffering from critical injuries because of which they were rushed to Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC).
Al Buainin added that the Public Prosecution inspected the site immediately, reviewed security cameras installed in the mall and started investigating into the incident.
According to the boy’s mother, and other witnesses, the father threw his son deliberately to the ground floor, adding that her husband’s behaviour has been abnormal for the past year.
Al Buainin also indicated that the Public Prosecution questioned the father who denied attempted murder charges, noting that the victim was in critical situation.
Following the inquiry, the Public Prosecution requested the court to refer the father to the Psychiatric Hospital for ten days in order to be able to determine whether he was responsible for his acts, he also said.
