Last group of 180 employees in the public sector will go back to their jobs from January 1st 2012, according to a statement issued by Information Affairs Authority.
The Chairman of Bahrain’s Civil Service Bureau, Ahmed bin Zayed Al-Zayed, announced that in accordance with the recommendations made by Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), an order reinstating the remaining suspended employees to their jobs in the Public Sector has been issued.
The order was issued by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, the Deputy Premier and Vice Chairman of the Civil Service Council and applies to all Ministries and government agencies.
Al-Zayed clarified that the cases being referred to are the final cases in the Public Sector; that all investigations have been completed; and that the final decision on the employees in question was that they be allowed to return to work by January 1, 2012.
Furthermore, cases of employees referred to the Public Prosecution for investigation of legal infractions will be followed up according to Al-Zayed. He reiterated that under Bahraini law they are still deemed as on-the-job employees and receive their salaries pending results of investigations.
“This is a positive step for Bahrain and more importantly completes the final reinstatements of Public Sector employees. Moreover, it reflects the sincere desire to follow through on the important recommendations of the BICI in an expedient manner,” a spokesman of the National Commission, charged with implementing the BICI recommendations, said.
