Manama, the Capital City in the Kingdom of Bahrain has been chosen as the Seat of Arab Culture for the year 2012. This choice has been made in view of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s effective heritage and position as the hub for artists, playwrights, poets, musicians, thinkers and writers.
This choice is constitutes a real test to exerting concerted efforts by all national sectors and to prove commitment to showcase the Kingdom of Bahrain’s positive regional and international image. Bahrain has always been as the land of ancient civilizations throughout the ages such as Delmon, Tylos, Awal eras and present-day Arabian and Islamic culture.
The number of books published in Bahrain between the year 2000 and 2007 reached 782 book titles in diverse fields in addition to 1209 masters and doctoral dissertation besides more than 45 magazines and news bulletins.
Bahrain Cultural Magazine has been issued by the Culture and Heritage Sector in the Ministry of Information and Tourism in April 1993 and it is considered one of the major Arab magazines. Also, first edition of Popular Culture Magazine was issued in March 2008.
