The Representatives Council has strongly condemned the malicious blast that occurred near the British Embassy in Manama, describing it as an odd and dangerous act that contravenes deep-rooted genuine Bahraini ethics.
The council also lauded the outstanding historical Bahraini-UK ties based on mutual respect, calling for the need to step up security measures around vital and diplomatic buildings in order to safeguard the kingdom’s stability and protect public and private interests, as outlines by international conventions.
The Parliament also called upon Bahraini citizens to enhance national unity and cohesion and adhere to the historical genuine Bahraini distinctive values of tolerance and peaceful co-existence, praising the tremendous efforts exerted by the Interior Minister and all the security bodies to promote security and stability across the kingdom.
The stances were voiced during a meeting between the Representatives Council Chairman Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani, Interior Minster Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee at the Representatives Council MP Sawsan Taqawi, Mp Jawad Bu Hussein, Chairman of the Council’s Advisory Board Dr. Saleh Al Ghathith and a number of Interior Ministry’s senior officials.
During the meeting, the Interior Minister briefed those present on the explosion that took place near the UK Embassy, asserting that investigations are still underway to uncover its circumstances and those behind it.
In this regard, Lt. General Shaikh Rashid condemned such a “criminal incident” in the strongest terms, which, he stressed, represent “a dangerous precedent”, asserting that all options are still on the table regarding those behind it, in light of the continuing negative Iranian media coverage inciting acts of sabotage and violence and taking into consideration the recent arrest of members of a terrorist ring, trained in Syria on the use of explosives.
Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Interior Minister for his keenness to update the Representatives Council on the security situation in the kingdom, which, he said, reflects the on-going positive cooperation between the government and the Parliament, stressing the need to beef up security measures around vital and diplomatic buildings and enhance national unity and solidarity.
MP Sawsan Taqawi strongly denounced the spiteful incident, hailing the essential role played by the Interior Ministry, the citizens, Constitutional institutions and civil society in rejecting violence and safeguarding security and stability nationwide.
She also called for the need to arrest criminals and hold them accountable.
As for MP Jawad Bu Hussein, the incident was a “dangerous and criminal” one that contravenes all Islamic and human norms and the kingdom’s civilizational and peaceful traditions, praising the tangible efforts made by the Interior Ministry to safeguard national security and ensure the safety of the citizens.
