The National Commission charged with implementing the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) recommendations convened for its first meeting at Shaikh Isa Cultural Centre.
The Commission led by Shura Council Chairman Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh vowed to take the necessary measures to ensure the implementation of the recommendations cited in the BICI Report. The first session pledged to give priority to the cases of sacked employees, dismissed students and building places of worship.
Addressing the meeting, Al-Saleh extended thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, pointing out the “national responsibilities” of the commission. He vowed to spare no effort to assume all responsibilities for the sake of the Kingdom and its citizens’ welfare.
He also pledged to approve any proposal on the basis of consensus between the members of the commission, wishing them success in assuming their national responsibilities at this defining moment of Bahrain’s history.
“This litmus test required all efforts to be exerted and responsibilities to be shouldered”, he said.
Al-Saleh stressed the crucial importance of the task, saying that it would usher in new horizons for Bahrain to once again become a pioneering country with regard to human rights, development and democracy.
He pointed out that the work of the commission would pave the way for a true national reconciliation.
Today’s session discussed the proposed mechanisms to follow-up the implementation of the recommendations with all Government departments.
The National Commission members have been divided into three groups, Legislative, Legal and National Reconciliation.
The Legislative team includes Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa, Ghanim Fadhl Albuainain, Farid Ghazi Jassim, Jameela Ali salman, Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Mulla.
The Legal team includes Abdulla Ahmed Al-Dirazi, Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, Dr. Hassan Abdulla Madan, Dr Fasial Radhi Al-Mousawi and Dr Essam Abdulla Fakhro.
The National Reconciliation Team includes Taqui Mohammed Al-Baharna, Hala Mohammed Al-Ansari, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Saati, Abdulla Saad Al-Huweihi, Ali Hassan Al-Atish and Ali Ahmed Al-Dirazi.
