Oil and gas sector plays a lead role in the economic and social development of Bahrain and has seen a major transformation in the recent years under the guidance of the country’s wise leadership.
The revolutionary programs that have enabled this were introduced by a competent authority, the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), constituted for the purpose six years ago.
The set up was aimed to achieve maximum efficiency and transparency as unified comprising all companies, councils and committees dealing with oil and gas affairs and enable Bahrain to cope with global changes.
NOGA modernizes and restructures national oil companies with uniform policies and strategies, maximizes the use of resources and empowers the nation’s management leaders in this vital sector.
It began with four companies and today has under its umberella nine successful enterprises.
” The oil and gas sector receives special attention from the country’s leadership,” said Energy Minister Dr. Abdullhussein Mirza.
” The growth of the authority proves its strength as an organization while contributing substantially to the country’s economic development, creating new jobs for Bahrainis, empowering and transforming them into pillars of Bahrain’s future.
” Establishing these companies aims to secure the country’s energy needs and economic growth by diversifying businesses and developing new areas within the oil and gas industry.
“The NOGA strategies were always in alignment with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.’
Among the NOGA companies is the National Oil and Gas holding company.
It stewards the government’s investment in the oil and gas companies like the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), the Bahrain National Gas Expansion Company (BNGEC).
Other companies include the Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company, the Bahrain Lube base Oil Company (BLOC), the Gulf Petrochemical industry company (GPIC), Tatweer Petroleum Company and SGPC.
” NOGA plans to establish more companies, whether fully owned by the government or in joint ventures in the coming years,” continued Dr. Mirza.
