The 2nd Youth Forum kicks off on Thursday under the auspices of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports President and Chairman of the Bahraini Olympic Committee His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa at Bait Al Tajjar.
CEO of Injaz Bahrain Her Highness Shaikha Hussa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, number officials from Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tamkeen, corporate attended the opening ceremony held under the slogan “Do start your own project”.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa urged Bahraini young people to opt for development of micro- and medium-sized enterprises which have been given priority over the past two decades by governments and administrations as well as financial and banking institutions.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa pointed out in his message to Bahraini young people that developing countries give top priority to micro enterprises in their investment maps in view of their effectiveness in boosting economic development. His Highness emphasized the significance of provision of new job opportunities by developing free-enterprising proficiencies in young people and supporting them in order to provide new job opportunities for the unemployed and create business nurseries through which to succeed in the local and international markets.
His Highness reminded the forum participants that although large projects contribute greatly in terms of increasing national GDP, however, small- and medium-sized projects do play a recognizably significant role in fighting poverty and unemployment, citing that analytical studies of small projects indicated that such projects suffer from internal or external problems: internal problems resulting from in-house shortcomings and external problems resulting from the economic sphere where they are operating.
The Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BICI) Dr. Essam Abdulla Fakhro hailed His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his keenness and commitment to implement the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 through the empowerment of young Bahrainis to start their own small enterprises and realizing their aspirations, providing them with expertly guidance and advise in implementing their own small-sized projects, praised the positive impact of the first forum which encouraged the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry to hold the forum for the second time and asserted the need to encourage young people to launch their own small projects which is the main goal of the forum this year.
The head of the Young Business-people’s Committee in BICI Khalid Al-Amin hailed His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his kind patronage of this forum, stressing that this patronage activates the distinctive role of partnership between the various bodies and reflects attention to young businesspeople and encourages and supports them to consolidate the values of initiative, excellence, creativity and the exchanging of experience and expertise.
Al-Amin pointed out that the forum focuses on the aspirations of young Bahraini entrepreneurs – especially the unemployed – and helps them to surmount challenges as well as encourage them and boost the spirit of business entrepreneurship in them.
