Bahrain’s First Lady, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), patronized an official ceremony held at SCW premises during which she handed over the 3rd edition of her Award for Bahraini Women Empowerment, which is designated for both the public and private sectors, as well as the first edition of her empowerment award for professional and political associations.
The first award was presented to the Economic Development Board, from the public sector and Takaful International Company, from the private sector, while the second award went to Bahrain Public Relations Association and the National Free Thought Society.
At the beginning of the ceremony, a documentary was shown spotlighting the impact of the award on promoting the status of women in the winning establishments and ways of availing of the award to boost woman-oriented programmes.
SCW Secretary General Hala Al Ansari hailed the awards as part of the key initiatives made by SCW to further integrate Bahraini women in the national development process. She pointed out the establishment of a national committee chaired by HRH Princess Sabeeka to follow up on that stressing the significance of such awards in crediting the efforts made in this regard and boosting participation of the Bahraini women in building the nation.
The SCW Secretary General pointed out a rise by 30% in participating institutions from the public and private sectors with the number of establishments topping 50 this year, including 12 which took part in the two previous editions too.
