With expected sales to fetch $5 billion, Bahrain International Airshow 2012 which opens on Thursday at Al-Sakhir Airbase is set to welcome over 40,000 visitors, according to a senior official.
Captain Abdulrahman Algaoud, Undersecretary and the member of the supreme organising committee of Bahrain International Airshow 2012 told the 24X7 News Bahrain that entire expo area comprised of 40 chalets have been taken by aircraft manufacturers, commercial aviation companies, and service providers speaks volume of the success of the event.
“We didn’t have the capacity to enhance the number of exhibitors due to the preset space but we will be definitely adding more area for the next show,” Captain Algaoud, said.
Shaikh Fawaz visited the media centre of the Bahrain International Air show (BIAS 2012), due to be held at Sakhir Airbase from January 19 to 21.
IAA President was briefed by BIAS 2012 Media Committee Chairman Lieutenant-Colonel Abdulla Al Nuaimi on the centre’s equipment and preparations to cover such a key international event.
Shaikh Fawaz expressed IAA’s keenness to provide all needed support for local and foreign reporters covering the event, in line with its role to highlight the Kingdom’s landmark achievements and economic momentum.
He also instructed all the concerned sides to take the necessary procedures in order to ensure a distinguished and thorough coverage of BIAS 2012, adding that radio and television programmes on the event will be broadcast daily.
The organisers say everything is set for visitors to enjoy the three-day colourful event including the formation display including the Russian Knights. The Russian team will display its skills in a Russian Air Force’s new show on board four Russian Sukhoi jetfighters during airshow.
The world’s leading aircraft manufacturers include European Airbus, American Gulf Stream, Canadian Bombardier and American Boeing is participating in the Bahrain International Airshow 2012.
The Supreme Committee of Bahrain International Airshow 2012 is led by His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the personal representative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The expected sales figure of $5 billion was revealed by the officials during one of the Supreme Organising Committee meetings and quoted by the Bahrain News Agency.
