Bahrain pledged to back all steps aimed at promoting GCC unity. His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa sent a letter in this regard to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa delivered the letter to the Saudi monarch at his palace in Riyadh.
He also conveyed greetings from HM King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander and wishes of health and happiness and further progress and prosperity for Saudi Arabia.
HM the King stressed King Abdulla’s keynote speech at the opening session of the GCC Summit, recently held in Riyadh. He hailed the Saudi leader’s proposal to move from the phase of GCC cooperation to the phase of unity.
He stressed the importance of the suggestion in consolidating the GCC cohesion and resistance – amid mounting political, security and economic challenges- , protecting Gulf security and stability and preserving people’s interests and development achievements.
The Saudi Monarch lauded the reform strides led by HM King Hamad to meet Bahrain people’s aspirations and ambitions towards further progress and prosperity.
He reaffirmed his country’s support for Bahrain’s security and stability- being integral to that of Saudi Arabia and other GCC member states.
Shaikh Khalid paid tribute to Saudi Arabia for its firm stance in support of Bahrain and pioneering role in promoting the GCC unity to confront any threats to the security and stability of the member states.
Present were Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal, General Intelligence Chief Prince Mogran bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Deputy Foreign Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdulla bin Abdulaziz and Bahrain Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Shaikh Humood bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa.
