Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, the eGovernment Excellence Award 2012 is launched for the fifth time in a row.
eGovernment Authority CEO Mohammed Al Qaed, announced that nomination is open to all innovative participants – individuals, government and private sectors and NGO’s in the ICT field.
Registration for the eGovernment Excellence Award 2012 starts from January 15 and continues until the 15th of February 2012. Subsequently, registered projects will be evaluated and announced by a jury comprising International and local ICT specialists who have proven professional expertise in the ICT domain. The winners will be honoured by Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa during the opening ceremony of the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2012.
Al Qaed emphasized the importance of the eGovernment Excellence Award in spreading the ICT Culture. He also praised its role in raising the country’s profile and the development of the society. He hopes that the award attracts effective national eParticipations and contributes to the global efforts in the field of ICT.
“The eGovernment Excellence Award is an ideal mean for innovators to extend their innovative local eProducts or eServices and participations in order to establish a solid base within a technological society and realize the purpose of the event which we are keen to annually launch for the past four years,” Al Qaed, said.
It is worth mentioning that the eGovernment Authority (eGA) will organize two specialized workshops on 16th and 17th January 2012 for ministries and governmental entities to clarify the mechanism of participation, the criteria of nomination and evaluation according to established standards and guidelines.
This year’s award consists of eleven categories divided into three entities – government and Multi sectors as well as individuals. The government sector includes six categories; Best eContent, Best eService, eMaturity, Best eProject, eEconomy and eEducation. The Multi sector includes four categories; Best ICT Solutions Provider, eEconomy, eEducation, eNGOs. The individuals’ category includes two; eCitizen and Best eConcept.
Application online is for 11 categories, and for the eCitizen selection will be selected based on effective participation and number or value of transactions conducted on eGovernement channels.
Notably, the winning eProjects will be approved and nominated to represent Bahrain and compete regionally at the GCC eGovernment Award, which will be launched at the end of this year.
The eGovernment Excellence Award aims at enhancing the digital culture and increase the number of beneficiaries of technological applications, both locally and globally. It also seeks to showcase Bahrain’s experience in this field and demonstrate its leading global ranking.
