Bapco has achieved another major milestone in terms of safety and reliability when the Refinery Reliability Clock (RRC) reached 90 days without a reset on 19 January 2012.
This means that the refinery process units and supporting facilities have operated for 90 days without any unplanned shutdown lasting longer than a day. This is the fourth time that this 90 days target has been achieved and could have only been achieved with great team work from all employees. While this milestone represents a truly worthy achievement at any time, it is of special significance to Bapco as this target improves cost effectiveness and ensures lost profit opportunities are minimized.
In Bapco, safety and reliability go hand in hand. In January we also achieved one million combined Bapco and contractor employees without a lost time injury. Key performance indicators (KPI), such as these show how well Bapco has moved towards safe work habits and business processes based on a robust safety and reliability culture. Our objective is to motivate employees to follow four Keys to Safety and practice OSOOL Bapco towards reliable safe operation of the refinery.
