Dr Abdul Hussain Bin Ali Mirza inaugurated Tatweer’s Rubble Heavy Oil Steam Injection Project on Wednesday.
The inauguration was attended by Chief Executive of Tatweer Petroleum, Dr. Ed Hanley and DCE Adel Al Moayyed and the executive management of Tatweer Petroleum and the Chief Executive of Banagas, Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and other invited guests.
This is the first time that steam has been injected into an oil reservoir in Bahrain Field and this will enable Bahrain to produce oil from the Rubble reservoir which is located approximately 1,600 feet below the surface. The injected steam will help in heating up the oil and make it much easier to flow out of the reservoir and be produced from the well.
Tatweer’s first steam injection pilot project is a test to see if oil production can be improved by the injection of steam and if successful it will be commissioned on a wider scale in Bahrain Field.
Dr Mirza congratulated and thanked Tatweer for this achievement in introducing this new technology in to Bahrain Field and allowing us to reach to our resources more efficiently. This project is one of many that Tatweer has already commissioned in the Field and comes in less than a month from the second phase of its new gas compression station in the Bahrain oil field.
Dr. Mirza expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the wise political leadership of HM King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister and HRH Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince for their continued support to the Petroleum industry in the Kingdom.
