Minister of Human Rights and Social Development Dr. Fatima Al-Blushi announced that the number of beneficiaries from the ministry’s social aid reached 14214 families until December 2011 with a cost of BD16.8 million.
Responding to a question addressed to her during today’s the parliamentary session about social aid offered to Bahraini families under the supervision of the ministry, Dr. Al Blushi pointed out that the Ministry of Social Development supervises the distribution of a number of benefits and social allowances, explaining that 7447 citizens benefited from the disability support allowance with a total cost of 9.2 million BD, 92084 benefited from the financial support allowance until November 2011 with a total cost of BD 46.8 million 140097 benefited from the National Charter’s grant until November 2011 with a total cost of BD1377 million, and 36 families benefited from the residential fire allowance until November 2011 with a total cost of 56700 BD.
Al-Blushi pointed out that the ministry follows clear criteria, requirements, resolutions, and laws issued by the executive authority when providing services to beneficiaries of the Royal Grants, social aids and other allowances. The process is carried out in a fair manner without exclusion.
Al-Blushi also said that registration for the Ministry’s services is open to all Bahraini individuals and families and the issuing process takes place according to the outlined criteria and requirements.
She also mentioned that disqualified individuals are notified and informed of the reasons of disqualification, which are normally related to the financial situation, citizenship, marital status of the individual or the inaccuracy in the data provided.
