His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and his accompanying delegation experienced the high definition video on demand over 4G/LTE service at the Batelco’s Chalet at BIAS 2012.
Batelco, Bahrain’s leading integrated communications services provider and Ericsson are showcasing the IPTV streaming and videos on demand demonstration for the prospective customers on the sidelines of the BIAS 2012.
The cutting-edge VoD experience is now on show at Batelco’s Chalet at Bahrain International Airshow 2012 (BIAS 2012). Batelco’s customers enjoyed experiencing 4G/ LTE and for the first time in Bahrain, Video on Demand (VoD) over 4G/LTE.
Batelco Chairman Shaikh Hamad Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Batelco Group CEO Shaikh Mohamed Bin Isa Al Khalifa were joined by Ericsson Head of Middle East Region Anders Lindblad to welcome HM King Hamad and accompanying dignitaries to the chalet for the live demonstration. Also in attendance were Batelco Bahrain CEO Rashid Abdulla, Ericsson President and Head of GCC Countries Ray Hassan and a number of Batelco’s Board of Directors, General Managers and Ericsson’s senior executives.
Guests and visitors to Batelco’s Chalet at BIAS 2012 are enjoying the VoD experience following on from Batelco and Ericsson’s successful trial of LTE (Long Term Evolution) mobile technology at Batelco’s Hamala Headquarters on December 15 last year. LTE, commonly referred to as the fourth generation of mobile technology enables the delivery of super fast data speeds.
Batelco Chairman Shaikh Hamad Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said that Batelco was honoured to welcome His Majesty to Batelco’s Chalet to experience Batelco’s capabilities in the field of LTE technology.
“BIAS 2012 as an international style event is an excellent venue to showcase our capability in the latest technologies,” Shaikh Hamad said.
Batelco Group Chief Executive Shaikh Mohamed Bin Isa Al Khalifa thanked Ericsson for joining Batelco at BIAS 2012 and for their invaluable contribution to Batelco in delivering the 4G/LTE experience for HM King Hamad during his visit to the Batelco Chalet.
“Ericsson’s technical expertise and their experience in implementing cutting edge communications solutions have been invaluable attributes in supporting Batelco’s aspiration to stay in the forefront of the telecoms industry in Bahrain,” Shaikh Mohamed, said.
“With the provision of 4G/LTE, Batelco networks will be capable of handling the much greater throughput of data in real time that’s required to support such services as mobile HD video streaming and conferencing, web-based applications and services, and the rapid transfer of large files,” Shaikh Mohamed, added.
“We are pleased to collaborate with Batelco on showcasing the power of LTE, which will allow Batelco to differentiate and offer high speed and quality customer experience through 4G/LTE wireless broadband services,” Ericsson Head of Middle East Region Anders Lindblad, said.
“There is no doubt that LTE/4G will stimulate the path to the Networked Society in Bahrain by enabling global connectivity to the people, business and society. We are keen to be involved with Batelco on such LTE trials by leveraging on our global and regional leadership in mobile broadband, communication technologies and services,” Lindblad, added.
LTE opens the doors for innovative applications, products, services, and solutions targeted not only to today’s handheld mobile devices, but also to other non-traditional devices.
