The Foreign Correspondents’ Club denounced the attack on and detention of “Al Arabiya” photographer Shaikh Al Din Abdulla Ahmed by a group of people while he was covering today’s incidents in Sitra.
The Board of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club called for the need to allow foreign correspondents to carry out their assigned duties according to the laws and norms regulating their profession in Bahrain and across the world.
It also stressed the need to provide full protection for foreign correspondents in order to ensure their safety, noting that all media outlets in Bahrain are keen to perform their media duties professionally.
The Bahraini Journalists Association (BJA) condemned in the strongest terms the detention of “Al Arabiya” photographer Shaikh Al Din Abdulla Ahmed by a group of people in Sitra.
BJA stressed the need to provide full protection for all journalists, media personalities and photographers and hold accountable all who commits criminal acts to prevent them from performing their duties.
BJA also called upon journalists, media professionals and photographers to be cautious while covering incidents in places known for their repeated violence or those in which clashes between protestors and security officers.
