Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Dr. Jum’a Al-K’abi emphasized that the project for repairing olden houses launched by the Ministry of Housing has made a lot of accomplishments and served Bahraini citizens in compliance with the government’s commitment to providing suitable accommodation to Bahraini citizens and to upgrade the urban environment in the various regions.
The Minister in his answer to a question posed in the House of Representatives today said that the project for rejuvenation of olden houses has reached a total number of 2300 houses in the various governorates and that 1700 housing units have already been handed over to the homeowners and that all remaining 700 houses are under currently construction and are expected to be handed over by February 2012.
Dr. Al-K’abi said that after the Ministry was assigned by the Royal Charity Organization to oversee the implementation of the project, the Ministry has taken a number of measures in order to support and ensure the success of the project and improvement of performance level in cooperation and coordination with municipal councils, adding that the Ministry formed an ad hoc management under supervision of undersecretary of the Ministry for Municipal Affairs and appointed specialized consultancy offices in each governorate in addition to a full-time action team in each municipality in order to supervise, monitor and follow up the project workflow.
