The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the Kingdom of Bahrain has presented its experience recently at two international conferences on online chid protection and cyber security and safety. The conferences were attended by TRA’s ICT Projects Specialist, Mariam Al Mannai.
During the Online Child Protection Conference held in Muscat, Al Mannai presented TRA’s role with regard the internet safety and online child protection and discussed the related issues that have arisen in the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with some of the major findings and results of the State of the Nation Review on online safety conducted in 2010.
TRA was invited also to attend the Cyber Security and Safety Conference hosted in Amman by the University of Jordan. Al Mannai once again participated as a speaker and presented TRA’s experience on internet safety and online child protection in Bahrain.
“We are proud to see Bahrain at the forefront to participate and present its experience on child safety and protection online. TRA is cognisant of the prevalence of technology in society and everyday life, and is taking proactive measures to improve the safety of citizens and residents using technology, which include planning, awareness, and collaboration activities,” TRA’s Director of Cyber Safety, Ahmed Jaber Aldoseri, said.
It is worth noting that TRA’s previously announced “SafeSurf DVD” initiative, which will provide everyone in the Kingdom with interactive tutorial on internet safety in five languages and antivirus programme, is currently in the final stages of production. The DVD tutorial will be publicly distributed in the coming months, and will be made available online.
