Al Zayani praises the UNGA for resolution on Syria

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani has praised the UN General Assembly’s endorsement of a resolution introduced by the Arab League on Syria, stressing that it’s a historic decision reflecting the International Community’s rejection of the crimes committed against the brotherly Syrian people, and reaffirming the Syrian regime’s isolation.

The fact that 137 members voted in favour of the resolution backs the tremendous efforts exerted by the Arab League to put an to the on-going bloodshed, reach a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis, and meet the aspirations of the Syrian people, he also said.

He also asserted that the resolution sends a strong message to the Syrian people that the International Community supports their legitimate demands and condemns the crimes committed against them, in breach of human rights.
