An official for the General Directorate of Immigration on Saturday confirmed that two activists have been deported who entered Bahrain on tourist visas and later joined demonstrations.
Huwaida Arraf and Radhika Sainath arrived in Bahrain in the last few days and obtained tourist visas upon arrival at the airport. However, once in Bahrain, they declared their intentions to join demonstrations in order to report on them. Arraf and Sainath were picked up at an illegal demonstration in Manama this afternoon.
The video clip posted by the Bahrain News Agency showed that how one of the activists failed to co-operate with the authorities when caught red-handed taking part in one of the illegal demonstrations.
The women work with a group calling itself “Witness Bahrain” and established a website and Twitter accounts to promote the activities of the banned organization, the Bahrain Center for Human Rights.
