Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan warned on Sunday against responding to incitement through social media channels and urging for illegal processions or other activities that created general disorder.
“There are people who insist on exploiting the freedom and democratic atmosphere of Bahrain to promote irresponsible, violent and illegal behaviour,” he said, adding that the Ministry of Interior officials were dedicated to interacting with the community to prevent violence and restore order and the general well-being of the Kingdom.
Major-General Al Hassan called upon the people to show their spirit of nationalism to achieve security and stability and avoid actions that raised tension. He reaffirmed his respect for the freedom of expression according to the law.
“Police have taken preventative measures to protect the security and safety of everyone in Bahrain,” he said. “Any disturbance that arises will be treated according to the law, especially if the safety of the nation or of the people’s lives is at stake. Violence that creates civil disorder and chaos will not be tolerated.”
