The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to host the 20the anniversary of Middle East Petroleum and Gas Conference (MPGC) from May 6–8, 2012 under the patronage of HE Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Energy-Chairman of National Oil and Gas Authority, and Chairman of BAPCO’s Board.
After an 8-year hiatus, MPGC 2012 returns to Bahrain to be hosted and sponsored by National Oil & Gas Authority and BAPCO. Themed “Middle East Oil & Gas: The Known Unknowns and the Unknown Unknowns”, MPGC 2012 will examine the cross currents of fragile demand in the West and robust demand in the East, the role played by OPEC in maintaining and checking market imbalances, shifts in refining economics and shutdowns and its impact on lighter crudes and narrowing the sweet-sour differentials.
The event will provide a global perspective on oil markets, developments in conventional and non-conventional oil production, prospects for tight and sour gas, as well as challenges in accessing new investment opportunities in the Middle East gas and the emergence of shale gas. By bringing key players and decision makers from national oil corporations, regional companies and governments together, MPGC focuses on evolving economic, commercial and policy trends in the Middle East and world markets.
“BAPCO is very pleased to be able to host and sponsor MPGC once again on the occasion of its 20th Anniversary. Oil and gas sector is still the key contributor to the national economy of the Gulf region and this conference will discuss the new challenges and opportunities in this vital sector. BAPCO is committed to the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030 and the conference will serve as the perfect platform for promoting our vision to provide the major investments in the country. Our support of the event reinforces our commitment to further develop the Middle East oil and gas industry,” BAPCO’s Chief Executive, Gordon Smith said.
