The former Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) Chief Professor Mahmoud Sharif Bassiouni appealed to all Bahrainis to put their national obligations above all other considerations.
“Bahrain as a state- can advance and overcome the challenges, turning the crisis into a way to achieve lofty goals,” he said.
He pointed out that the achievements reached through the implementation of the recommendations cited in the (BICI) Report.
Bassiouni was speaking as he met the National Commission charged with implementation of the BICI Report recommendations.
He described the implementation of the recommendations as aimed to achieve Bahrain’s national goal.
He pointed out that his presence in Bahrain came at the demand of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
“Some recommendations have been already implemented others are being implemented to a large extent. However, other recommendations cited in the (BICI) Report still need time to be executed”, he said.
He denied any procrastination in carrying out all recommendations.
“There is no doubt about the desire of His Majesty King Hamad and the Government to carry out the recommendations,” he said.
National Commission Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh asserted that the door remains wide open for all political forces to take part in the committee – including the opposition.
