Deputized by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander blessed the official grand opening of Manama, Capital of Arab Culture 2012.
His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud Chairman, Kingdom Holding Company was among the dignitaries who attended the event held on Thursday evening.
HRH expressed his pride indicating that it is an honour for the Kingdom of Bahrain which in turn reflects it’s cultural and historical, and modern presence of the people of Bahrain over the centuries. He also wished that this day is a day of happiness for all.
HRH expressed his thanks and appreciation on the participation of Royal Highnesses, dignitaries and officials from GCC and Arab countries in this celebration.
HRH also extended his thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa and all ministry employees on their noble efforts in celebrating Manama as the Capital of Arab Culture this year expressing with that his admiration for the outstanding artistic performance that projected the Bahraini heritage and the spirit of clinging on to hope in making Bahrain the pearl of the Gulf.
HRH thanked international establishments and organizations along with civic society establishments that had supported the success of this performance.
Meanwhile, the show that is the official opening ceremony of “Manama, Capital of Arab Culture 2012” included a modern performance entitled “Path of Pearls” that projects heritage and historical images in a modern way with a celebrative spirit.
Shaikha Mai extended her thanks and appreciation for the support and patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the official opening of Manama, Capital of Arab Culture 2012″ and for the attendance of HRH Prince Salman and the continued support of the leadership for efforts exerted towards revitalizing culture and heritage.
She also affirmed the importance of this event in reflecting the modern reality Bahrain enjoys and embedding with it the spirit of love and peace through culture and art that is considered a joint language among all.
Shaikha Mai also highlighted the great efforts exerted both on regional and international level to promote Manama as the Capital of Arab Culture.
