Acting Director of the Civil Defense said that fire fighting units were able to extinguish a fire that broke out on Monday morning in several storage facilities at the central market allegedly due to electric short-circuit.
The official said that the operation headquarters receive a call at 8:30 am following which the civil defense units were dispatched to the scene of the fire. The units were able to control the fire within 16 minutes and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring shops. The acting director indicated that the fire broke out following an electrical fault that resulted in the damage of three shops and six others from heat and smoke. However, he emphasized that the fire did not result in human causalities.
