In a continuing spate of attacks on expats and staff of delivering essential services, thugs on Friday early morning physically assaulted two cleaners in Bani Jamra area and snatched the muck truck.
The General Directorate of Northern Governorate Police announced that two Asian cleaners were attacked and waste collection truck was also torched by attackers in Bani Jamra on early Friday morning.
The General said that a call to police was made around 4:50am reporting the arson of the truck.
“Their waste collection truck was stolen and then burned nearby. Civil Defense arrived on the scene to put out the fire,” the Ministry of Interior in a statement posted on its website said.
The driver of the truck reported to police that masked individuals broke into the vehicle and attacked the workers. They were pulled from the truck and were threatened with machetes. The attackers then stole the truck and fled the scene.
