Raed Raffii and Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stood out amongst their peers yesterday on an exciting day of action in the National Racing Festival at Bahrain International Circuit’s (BIC) in Sakhir.
The talented Bahraini racers each captured pole position for their respective races.
Raffii made Bahraini motorsport history after securing the first-ever pole for VIVA Racing Team in the WGA Supercars Championship Middle East. Raffii narrowly outgunned Batelco Racing Team ace Alban Varuttii by a mere hundredth-of-a-second to grab the leading starting spot for the first race of round four.
Shaikh Hamad, meanwhile, rediscovered some of his title-winning form from last season by clinching pole position for today’s first race in round six of the BIC 2,000cc Challenge. His success earned him the number one grid position for the first time this season.
The National Racing Festival continues today (Saturday, February 11) at ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, with two races apiece in both the WGA Supercars and the 2,000cc Challenge taking place. All are welcome to attend.
The first race in the 2,000cc gets all the action underway at 10.43am, to be followed by race one of the WGA Supercars at 11.36am. The 2,000cc’s second race will then flag off at 2.23pm, leading up to race two of the WGA Supercars at 3.16pm.
