Reflection, solo art exhibition by Bahraini artist Shaikh Rashid Al Khalifa, which went on display at the Bahrain Financial Harbour Fine Arts Gallery, has attracted a huge response from the art lovers from all age groups and people representing diverse backgrounds.
This exhibition investigates the mirror-like chrome service that inspired the artist to embrace elusive ‘transformational moments’ – that embody the necessity of self-reflection in a creative and truthful way of seeing, recording and communicating the real and imagined world.
It transforms the act of viewing into an act of dialogue that attributes great importance to individual and subjective expression.
“Once the viewer is face to face with the artwork, it breaks down the barriers; it becomes a journeying encounter like a free-flowing sense of interaction – a glance of the real, a starting point, waiting to be followed through, allowing the viewer to do the completing, the reflection of self,” Shaikh Rashid said.
To view the exhibition is to experience aesthetic enjoyment as viewers are able to navigate the real and imagined where they can explore and experience their feelings in real-time and the artistic realm through the “art of reflection.”
“Reflection” Shaikh Rashid Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa’s new visual grammar shows an artist consistently evolving, learning from the past as in the world before him. A world – as he continues to push further to contemporaneity – forever unfinished.
The exhibition is open to the public from 31 January to 30 March from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to
8pm Sunday to Thursday from 4pm to 8pm Friday and Saturday.
As “Reflection” manifests itself within the artist, this exhibition gives Shaikh Rashid a sense of purpose and joy to give back to the society in a meaningful way.
Three paintings were put up for sale with proceeds donated to selected charities. This commitment is not only to support their noble mission but also as a gesture of his appreciation and admiration to the extraordinary men and women, working in these organisations, whose optimism and drive represent what is best about our Kingdom.
