The Kingdom of Bahrain, which was the first country in the region to deregulate its telecommunication sector, becomes the first country in the world to have the green broadband company.
This was announced by the George El Aily, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of Greenisis, during a ceremony attended by the President of the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) Shaikh Fawaz Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
The Company’s co-founder told media that company will have 30 green power stations to propel its operations across the country once operational by end of March 2012.
“Bahrain became one of the first countries worldwide, and the only country in the region, to boast a green Mobile Broadband Wireless Access (MBWA) platform as Bahrain Broadband launched its Greenisis Services,” he said.
The ceremony was held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel under the Patronage of Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Information Affairs Authority, marks the soft launch of Greenisis, with retail shops set to open next month.
Bahrain Broadband is the latest operator in The Kingdom of Bahrain to be granted a license by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority for providing broadband and other telecom services. The Greenisis platform was developed by Kleos, a leading global solutions provider specialised in designing, building and operating the world’s most revolutionary MBWA systems.
Greenisis utilises cutting-edge MBWA technology, which offers many advantages to existing GSM, 3G, LTE and WiMax broadband networks. In addition to providing the most reliable and advanced wireless platform in the region, Greenisis delivers low-radiation and environmentally-friendly services.
“Our mission is to set a new global standard in providing the highest quality, most secure and best value wireless broadband services, whilst preserving the health of our environment,” he said.
“Wireless broadband faces two major challenges; spectrum scarcity and a surge in the number of towers required to fulfil demand for capacity. We have solved these two problems,” Dr. Pierre Navidi, CTO and co-creator of the platform, added.
Greenisis retail shops offering a range of competitively priced packages for business and residential use are set to open across Bahrain at the end of March.
