The budget allocated for sports associations for 2012 has soared by a record 150% to top BD6.12 million, up from BD2.725 million last year.
The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) unveiled the all-time high budget in a press conference held today. BOC Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa and Secretary-general Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalifa addressed the meeting.
Sport associations chairmen, board members, BOC officials and journalists attended.
Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa stressed the importance of BOC-led partnership with the sport associations and the media, stressing BOC President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa’s keen interest in ensuring the follow-up.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalifa outlined BOC recent achievements, citing legislations regulating sport and the tangible increase in external participations.
He also spotlighted planned BOC-led future projects, particularly the Bahrain Olympic Academy and the National Medical Sport Centre.
