Bahrain International Book Fair will be opened tomorrow under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa thanked HRH the Premier for his support to the book fair which, she said, reflects his interest in culture.
She added this year’s edition, which is organised within the events of Manama Capital of Arab Culture 2012, is considered a new quantum leap on the cultural scene.
The Fair features many cultural events, and has gained a good reputation internationally throughout the past years, which encouraged many Arabic and international publishing houses to take part.
Shaikha Mai welcomed the Fair’s guest of honour for this year, Tunisia, with which Bahrain has strong cultural relations.
The 15th International Book Fair exhibits the latest Arabic and Foreign editions of around 300 of the biggest publishing houses. The Fair will feature many cultural events, such as book launching for ten Bahraini authors in the pavilion of the Ministry of Culture. It will also feature activities of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the children’s Pavilion.
The Fair is open till the first of April, from 9.00 am to 1.00 PM, and from 4.00 pm to 10.00 pm. On Fridays, the Fair opens only in the evenings.
