Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) on Tuesday spearheaded a major campaign to create a buzz at the traditional Manama Souq during the upcoming F1 Grand Prix 2012 in April in Bahrain.
The Chairman of the BCCI board Dr Esam Abdulla Fakhro and board members of the Chamber along with the Chairman of the Old Manama Souq Jawad Al Hawaj carried out a visit to the Souq meeting traders and shop keepers to assure the BCCI support for this ‘must visit’ place for foreigners during the F1 Grand Prix.
Dr Esam Fakhro assured all possible support to the traders in the Souq as part of the BCCI commitment to revitalise this important segment of the Kingdom’s economy, which largely still run by the Bahrainis over the past many generations.
The Chairman Manama Souq Committee at the BCCI Jawad Al Hawaj also met with the traders and discuss their problems and challenges being faced by the retailers in the market.
The Chairman of the BCCI also announced a festival during the upcoming F1 Grand Prix 2012 to create a buzz at the Souq who also pledged to seek to revive the trade business in Bahrain by beating the recession.
The Festival will take place in April and Dr Fakhro said he embraced the idea of holding this festival in order to activate and move the commercial traffic in the market for the Manama. He said the traditional Souq plays an influential and important role in Bahrain’s commercial life.
