Following directives from His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on rationalizing government spending through avoiding unnecessary expenses and activating the principles of accountability and preservation of public money, according to international standards in this regard, Finance Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee on Financial and Economic Affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa met with the Housing Minister and Chairman of the Tender Board Engineer Bassim bin Yaqoob Al Hamar.
They discussed areas of cooperation, especially regarding ways of controlling expenditures and execution of government projects and programmes with utmost proficiency and efficiency.
They agreed to consolidate the application of laws and regulations governing government tenders, purchases and sales.
They also set up permanent contact centres between the Finance Ministry and the Tender Board in order to enhance coordination in government contracts and projects so as to ensure that no tenders or purchase orders are granted without making sure that the necessary financial funds are available.
