American Express Middle East (AEME) announced the appointment of Mazin Khoury as Chief Executive Officer. Khoury, who first joined AEME in 1989 and has served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer for the past two years, takes over as CEO from William Keliehor.
Since 2010, Khoury has served as Chief Operating Officer of AEME with a wide-ranging remit to manage the company’s business in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. In his new role, Khoury will focus on continuing to grow the company’s existing corporate and premium cards business across 18 markets in the MENA region, while maintaining the unparalleled levels of service, payment flexibility and daily rewards associated with the American Express Middle East brand.
“By providing reliable, convenient and rewarding solutions for our Cardmembers and business partners, American Express Middle East continues to go from strength-to-strength in the MENA region. I look forward to continue working with an outstanding team as we cement our market leading position and develop new growth opportunities for the company,” Khoury said.
Khoury has had a long and distinguished career in the financial services industry. He has held a number of senior level positions over the past two decades, including CEO of Amex (Saudi Arabia) Limited and Vice-President of AEME. A Bahraini national, Khoury will continue to be based in Manama.
