National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Arabian Gulf University (AGU). Minister of Energy Dr. Abdul Hussain Mirza and Head of the University Dr. Khalid Al Ohali inked the agreement.
Dr. Mirza expressed pleasure in signing the memo which opens new horizons for cooperation between both sides in the field of transferring the research, development and technical knowledge outcomes to the petroleum production sector. Dr. Mirza highlighted the possibility of benefitting from the oil and gas sector in Bahrain, through the researches and the new biotechnologies in the area of refining and desulfurization from the refined petroleum products.
He pointed out the possibility of reducing carbon emissions and bioremediation of environmental pollutants and the use of biotechnology in the oil industry and other manufacturing industries. They will seek the possibility of benefitting from biotechnology in the development of renewable energy sources and renewable bio-energy in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Dr. Mirza also pointed out the importance of this agreement in strengthening fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the GCC countries. He said the Arabian Gulf University represents one of the scientific and civilization edifices that reflects the brotherly relationships and interests of these countries.
Dr. Khalid Al Ohali hailed the efforts of the specialists on both sides in order to reach this memo, which for the first time launched the scientific and practical link among the production sectors and the academic sector. He also expressed the memo will yield tangible results for the benefit of both sides and reinforce cooperation ties among the GCC countries.
