The Royal Court hailed the civilized expression of opinion which held during the rallies held respectively at Al-Fateh and in the Northern Governorate.
“What happened today in both rallies stands as clear evidence and a source of pride for all Bahrainis”, it said. In a statement issued on Friday, it reaffirmed the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to guarantee all citizens’ right to peacefully express their opinions, under the reform project initiated by His Majesty.
It also reasserted the right to exercise the freedom of expression within the limits of the law, as stipulated in the National Action Charter and the Constitution. “Bahrainis have every right to take pride in this model of exercising true democracy without compromising public and private interests – thus conforming with the law on rallies which was endorsed by people’s representatives”, the statement said.
While hailing this civilized expression of opinion, the Royal Court also urged all parties to always commit to this path for the sake of Bahrain and its people.
A spokesman for the Information Affairs Authority has stated that today’s march organized by a government opposition group is a prime example of how freedom of expression is guaranteed under Bahrain’s Constitution and Legal system as long as it’s peaceful and doesn’t infringe upon the rights of others.
